Birds of Prey- February 7

As a comics fan, this movie is super exciting for me. This story follows Harley Quinn after her and the Joker broke up. She joins forces with one of my favorite heroines, Black Canary, as well as Huntress and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from The Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). This is the first superhero movie focusing on an all-female team. On top of that, the director and screenwriter are all both females. The world and I are excited to see this female power, R-rated film (especially after the female snubs for best director at the Oscars).

The New Mutants- April 3

This movie has been heavily delayed and it was supposed to premiere April 18 of 2018. It follows young mutants in the X-Men universe in a horror setting, which is an interesting turn in the hero genre. This should be a very weird and interesting watch. Unfortunately, this movie has been in a post-production mess. So we haven’t been able to see this take, until now. This movie’s release date has been pushed back to April 3rd of this year. This movie will either take the superhero genre in a new and interesting direction, or it will go like it’s X-Men movie predecessors and be disappointing. I hope this is good, but I don’t have very high expectations.

Black Widow- May 1

Black Widow is one of the founding members of the Avengers and has been in the MCU longer than Captain America and Thor. Now, she is finally getting her solo movie. Scarlett Johansson returns as Black Widow, and brings in Florence Pugh and David Harbour as new additions to the MCU. Fans are excited to see the cool sass and head scissors that come with any appearance of Black Widow.

Wonder Woman 1984- June 5

Gal Gadot returns as Wonder Woman in a sequel to the fantastic “Wonder Woman”. This time we see the roles reversed as Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) is now the fish out of water with Diana acting as his guide to the ’80s. It’s not just old faces though. The film will introduce Max Lord played by Pedro Pascal of “Mandalorian” and “Game of Thrones” fame. A mysterious character that is a delight for comic book fans to see. Wonder Woman has been a highlight of the DC Universe, and we’re excited to see more.

Eternals- November 6

Marvel’s next big superhero team will debut in November of this year. With the star-studded cast of Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kit Harrington, and Brian Tyree Henry, this movie is sure to be a fun watch for all. This movie tells the story of immortals who have shaped the history of Earth (hence the name Eternals). It’s going to be a fun movie, as the MCU is yet to let us down.
