He’s known for the way he dresses so he has to look precise. He puts on an outfit: a brown sweater with a sun and a rock necklace hanging around his chest, with his dangly white earrings. To top the look off he adds eyeliner. Drew Froah doesn’t think much about what he’s putting on before heading off to school. The style comes naturally to him.

In third bell portfolio prep class, his tight fashion deadlines without enough fabric keep him on his toes. K-pop music keeps him motivated through it all. The detailed designs in K-pop clothing brought out a different side of him that he didn’t know about.

“My interest in fashion sparked whenever I would watch music videos or live performances of music artists. They would always have intricate outfits that went along with the concept of their music and seeing everything being put together in that way inspired me,” Froah said.

His commitment to authenticity and staying true to himself is something that many admire and respect. He finds most of his passion rooting in the hidden, indie members of K-Pop bands rather than the big popular ones.

“My biggest inspiration is Choi Heesun. She is a big stylist behind many K-pop groups in South Korea. I love her process behind each piece. I feel like I always have some sort of song or album that I’m focusing a piece after, I love making that connection and it feels like an extra quirk to my artwork that only I fully understand,” Froah said.

As time passed, Froah’s fascination with fashion grew. He began to dive deeper into the world of fashion, immersing himself in various styles and trends. He spent hours researching different designers, attending fashion shows, and keeping up with the latest fashion news. His love for fashion was not limited to the music industry; He was also drawn to the beauty and creativity of fashion as an art form and began to develop his own unique sense of style.

“I’ve seen Drew grow as an artist over the years from Freshman year, painting in my living room, to now seeing all his work in the art show. Drew never ceases to amaze me with his creative ideas and unique perspectives,” Lacey Valenti said.

Over the years, Froah has demonstrated an impressive evolution as an artist. His creative ideas and unique perspectives never cease to amaze those who witness his work. Beyond his talent, Froah is also known for his strong work ethic and drive to continually push himself to be better.

I had him as a freshman and a senior. He is always willing to help and is always kind. Drew always comes up with fresh ideas and puts color and personality into every piece that he does. I love to see how he has developed this colorful style over the years.  I can’t wait to see what he will make next when he continues his art journey at U.C.,” Stacy Hoffert, fashion teacher.

Froah wants younger artists to experiment earlier and have fun being creative and figuring out what they like. Froah plans to take his artistic abilities to the next level at the University of Cincinnati and major in fashion design at DAAP.

“Art has always been a safe space for me, whether that be music or visual. I feel that is evident along with my work where I have matured. Music has always helped me stay motivated. I’ve always had music in my life to keep me moving forward,” Froah said.
