More KHS athletes sign to college
On Thursday, Kings Local School District recognized those seniors who have signed on as college athletes in the Bradford Media Center. Family, friends, coaches and administrators were present as the students committed to the next four years.
During each school year there are three signing days at Kings, for each season that the students have made their final decisions about the college they will attend in the fall.
Phil Poggi, athletic director at Kings, said, “This is a way for Kings to recognize senior athletes who have signed on with college athletics.”
In November, four athletes signed on (see photo above). Matt Fowler signed to The University of Cincinnati for baseball; Amina Ismail signed on to Xavier University for tennis; Kate Etter signed on to Marshall University for swimming; and Luke Glischinski signed on to Ohio Northern University for baseball.
“Usually,” Poggi says, “there are about 15-17 student athletes who sign on all together throughout the year.”
In this second ceremony, eight seniors signed.
Robbie Frye – Wittenberg University – Soccer
Kristen Sevier – Wright State University – Cross Country
Maddie Kuhn-Heidelberg University – Soccer
Courtney Kelleher- Duquesne University – Soccer

Sevier said it’s been a long road.
“All my hard work is finally paying off, especially the hard work I’ve put in with my coaches Jim and Lynn Brant for the past 6 years.”
