Spinner steps in, hires new assistant
The Kings Local School Board has officially appointed Assistant Superintendent Tim Spinner to step in and lead the district. Spinner, who will act as interim superintendent, replaces John Lazares. Lazares agreed to fill the superintendent job temporarily last spring after Valerie Browning resigned.
One of the first moves Spinner had to make in his new job was to find a replacement for the job he vacated: assistant superintendent. Over the weekend, Spinner announced he had hired longtime educator Larry Knapp for the job.
“Larry has a wide range of experiences having served the Edgewood City School District in Trenton as an Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent,” Spinner said in an announcement. “Most recently, he was the Principal of Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School. Prior to that he acted as their Business Manager. Additionally, he has held positions as a Middle School Principal, Assistant Principal and Industrial Arts Teacher.”
Knapp’s official title is “interim assistant superintendent.”
“The addition of Larry to our staff is a big win for us,” Spinner said. “He is an experienced and dedicated educator. I am confident he will make an immediate and positive impact on not only our staff and students, but our entire community.”
Kings has undergone a lot of change at the top of its administrative team. This year, the superintendent, assistant superintendent, curriculum director, high school principal and junior high school principal are all new to these positions at Kings.
