macspizzaThe Kings Community is always looking for new places to eat, and of course, places to take KYO football teams after a big win. Mac’s pizza Pub is the newest, hottest spot in Kings, located in Landen Square.

June, 2014 was the pub’s grand opening. The building has been renovated, and used to be Tabby’s Sports Bar & Grille, known for the live music and sand volleyball court right outside next to a pavilion. Tabby’s closed at the beginning of 2013 and went up for sale. However, there was a lot of work needed to be done to the old building.

The inside of the Pub is unique. A large bar right sits in the middle and there are a lot of heightened wooden tables all around the main seating area. There are posters on the wall that give it a rock-n-roll kind of look, and there is always upbeat music playing in the background of the conversations of customers.

Mac’s Pizza of Landen is supervised by a man named Josh Freid. Josh went to UC, where there is another Mac’s Pizza Pub on campus. Fried worked for the famous restaurateur Jeff Ruby, and has a strong background in the business. There is also another Mac’s on Wooster Pike. The staff at this pub includes students from Kings, including Maddy Mettey, Madison Sarchet, and Tiana Onnen.

Tiana Onnen explained why working at Mac’s is a great first job.

“There are a lot of families that go there, it’s an awesome environment because the parents can sit back, relax and drink while the kids play games in the arcade.”

The most popular items on the menu are, of course, specialty pizzas. This extensive of selection of unique pizzas include Mac Attack, Chicago Gyro, The Don, Flying Pig, and BBQ chicken. Other popular menu items include jumbo chicken wings and burgers.

Mac’s has an immense amount of activities going on; such as live music, sand volleyball, and specials every night across the menu. The Cincy Magazine also rated Mac’s Pizza as the best pizza in Cincinnati.

The Kings Community has praised Mac’s, as it has been a sponsor for multiple events such as Columbia’s 3v3 basketball tournament and the Kings’ summer recreational swim team, the Landen Stingrays. Many individuals from the King’s Community love Mac’s; including high school English teacher Pete Moore.

“I’m just glad that the place isn’t empty anymore. Mac’s has an awesome environment and great beer selection. The outside of the building looks better than it ever has before,” Moore said.
