Kings App aims to inform
The Kings Local School district has recently released a new mobile app for students and families to get more involved. The app includes the district’s calendar, staff directory, lunch menus, athletics and the Speak Up Hotline.
Dawn Gould, the Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for keeping the community informed in what is happening in the district. This app is a great tool for students and their families to use.
“My job is to keep the community informed of what is happening in the Kings District and the app is another great example of our commitment to communication,” said Gould.
Gould says that the process in creating the app started last school year when the school partnered with School Messenger, King’s district notification provider who offered the mobile app.
“We met their representatives and started the process of deciding what we wanted the app to do and what should be included,” said Gould.
School Messenger did all the technical work, but Gould and the Director of Technology, Deann Burns, were the minds behind what is on the app looks like and what it looks like.
“After several prototypes and changes, we came up with an app that we feel is user friendly and informative,” said Gould
Media Specialist Chris Chamberlain is excited with the introduction of this convenient and useful app for the use in all schools in the district.
“It’s a great resource for students of all ages and their families to keep involved in what is happening in the district, even my kids use it everyday to check their lunch menus,” said Chamberlain.
In order for families to get involved with school activities and functions, they must be informed of them first. This resource will help get everyone get more easily involved in the Kings Community.
