With only one game last week, the boys varsity basketball team did not disappoint.

The Knights played the Walnut Hills Eagles, who are third in the ECC.

The Knights had their work cut out for them with the Eagles having the second highest scorer and second highest rebounder in the ECC.

As usual, Jakob Peters scorched the Eagles with 24 points. Ashton Koeller added 10 points and 10 rebounds in his first double-double of the season.

Those performers helped the Knights win the close 58-53 game against the Eagles, bringing them to 6-12 on the season, and 4-7 in conference play.

The Knights have 2 away games this upcoming week as they take on the ECC leader West Clermont Wolves on Friday and the Lebanon Warriors on Saturday.

“This win helps our confidence a lot. We’ve won 2 in a row now and have been given a huge boost heading into our last 4 regular season games,” said Junior starting forward, PJ Marchal.

The girls varsity basketball team only played one game, which was on Saturday vs. the West Clermont Wolves, who were in second place in the ECC with the lady Knights just one spot behind in third.

The Lady Knights won the intense game in overtime with a 49-45 win.

The top performers of the game were Lexie Sparks pouring on 14 points for her second straight double-digit game, and Carolyn Bruns secured her first double-double of the season with 10 rebounds and 15 points.

The  Lady Knights are ending this season with three games this week. Monday the 4th the ladies play at home against Ursuline Academy. They take on Turpin Wednesday the 6th, and finish off the regular season on Saturday the 9th, with a 2 p.m. game against Anderson.

The lady Knights play the first game of the playoff tournament on Saturday, February 16th at 2:30 p.m. at Sycamore against their rivals, the Loveland Tigers.
