The boys varsity basketball team played their final game of the season on Thursday February 21st at Hamilton High School against the Little Miami Panthers in the first round of the sectional tournament.

The Knights led the whole game until Cole Spencer made a floater with 4 seconds left in the game which put the Panthers up 45-44. After a timeout, the Knights drew up a play that opened senior Ashton Koeller to throw up a desperation shot at the buzzer.

Unfortunately the shot was a little too strong, hitting off the back iron and bouncing out.

This game ended the basketball career for all 8 seniors on the team. Briton Longwell, Jake Peters, Jack Hussey, and Isaac Burnside have all participated in Kings basketball throughout 4 years of high school. Ashton Koeller, Treshawn Fisher, Trace Jones, and Christian Honthy brought size and energy to the team which helped them have a 7-16 record, much better than their 3-20 2018 season.

“Proud of how our guys competed this year. Definitely going to miss our seniors. Thank you for everything you gave to our program!” said Coach Nick Molz via twitter.

Jack Hussey’s favorite moment was beating Milford on a buzzer beating three pointer to get the first team win.

“I’m thankful for all of the memories and for teaching me what true hard work means,” Hussey told the Knight Times

The best part of the season for junior, PJ Marchal, was beating Walnut Hills at home in front of a huge crowd. With the seniors leaving, the juniors, have huge shoes to fill next year. “I’ll miss how they could make everything more fun and enjoyable,” Marchal said.

The seniors leave the season with sound advice for the younger players.

“Make the most of everything because it will come and go very fast,” said Jack Hussey.
