Spirits should reject ‘Ouija’

Spirits from the unknown are calling the movie, ‘Ouija,’ back to the underworld.

This movie revolves around a girl named Debbie (Shelley Hennig) whom died mysteriously while playing the game, Ouija. A friend of the girl named Laine (Olivia Cooke), attempts to find out what really went on while playing the game, and invites many friends over, and decides to call to the dead and play Ouija themselves? What will the spirits want to say to them?

This movie is not worth a watch, not even from the library. This is the most stereotypical movie that I have seen in a long time, and really makes me wonder where all the good scary movies went. This movie’s plot is laughable, and it is ridiculous that it took the top spot in the box office this week. It only earned this money because it was the only scary movie that is coming out this October that is widely released. Don’t fund this movie, or we will keep getting subpar movies that are not worth your time.

Here are some other movies that may be worth your time this Halloween season:

1 Paranorman

This is an amazing stop motion animated movie that will go down in history as a great movie for both the kids and the adults in your family. This movie knows how to push your buttons in just the right way to make you want to cry at times, and laugh at others. It is a must see.

2 Disturbia

This movie is actually very surprised good in my mind. It is taking the concept of the movie Rear Window and making it more suspenseful and creepy. It is a psychological thriller that really gets your blood pumping and will make you want to hid under the covers as you watch it unfold.

3 The Conjuring

Another one of the newer movies that became a hit in my mind is The Conjuring. This movie takes the concept of ghosts and demons, but puts a spin on it that actually makes it scary and not stereotypical. It is a must see.

If you are interested in some classics:

4 The Silence of the Lambs

This psychological thriller will leave you scared. It may even give you nightmares. This movie is eerie and unsettling in a way that a ghost movie could not do, since it is realistic. The realistic vibe will leave you more scared.

5 Halloween

Last but never least, Halloween brings out the classic slasher films. This is a must see during the season of Halloween, it even is self titled. This movie will bring back the nostalgia of adults, and bring out the scariness of the teens.

Go watch these movies this season, instead of wasting your money in the theater.
