Kings High School has a huge fan base when it comes to sporting events, but do the fans that sit at basketball games realize just how good the KHS dance team is while they perform during halftime?

Kings High School is a member of the ECC or Eastern Cincinnati Conference and every year at the end of the season, there is a tournament to see who wins the conference title. Other schools that belong to the ECC are Glen Este, Turpin, Anderson, Withrow, Walnut Hills, Loveland, and Milford.

The KHS dance team won the ECC title for the 2nd year in a row on Feb. 7. The competition was held at Withrow High School. Each dance team does two dances in front of four judges.

Maddie Gulbin, a sophomore on the varsity dance team, doesn’t hide her passion for the dance team.

“I really enjoy being apart of the dance team because we are all super close and we love to compete together.”

The dance team recently competed in a national competition and finished 4th place in the category Pom, and scored 2nd place in the Hip Hop category. These results are the best KHS dance team has ever received.

Deborah Smith, the head coach of the dance team, believes the future holds even more success for the dance team.

“Though our season is drawing to an end, we are so excited for the future of our program in the competitive arena.”

The dance team holds a Spring Show for anyone who wants to come watch their winning routines on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 28 at 2 p.m.. Both shows are held in the KHS gymnasium. Tickets are on sale, $7 for adults and $5 for students.
