With Graduation Day coming up for the class of 2017, the students representing the class as Valedictorian and Salutatorian have been announced.

Hannah Rasmussen, Valedictorian, will be leaving high school with a GPA of 4.689 and an ACT score of 34.

Rasmussen plans on attending University of San Diego and will be majoring in Physics. She will also continue to run track and cross country throughout her college career.

Rasmussen is currently a top athlete in the state, while holding multiple records at Kings High School.

“I hold 10 school records, including relays with a great team. My best season so far has been this past indoor track season in which I was state runner up in the 3200m and the 4x800m.”

She was awarded the ECC runner of the year in the past cross country season and is ranked in the top 5 in Ohio for the 3200m and the 1600m. Along with those, the KHS 4x800m relay team is ranked 1st in the state.

Beside Rasmussen at graduation will be Anders Wikum, Salutatorian, with a GPA of 4.654 and an ACT score of 35.

Wikum will be attending University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and plans to double major in mechanical engineering and physics.

“Ideally, I see myself working at a company akin to SpaceX or Tesla. Still, during college I’d love to try to make a few startup businesses.”

Wikum is captain of the Quiz team and Math team. He went to the state competition for Mock Trial, and also participated in Greenpower USA. Along with those academic pursuits, he also is on the men’s tennis team.

Rasmussen and Wikum will speak at Kings High School graduation at Xavier’s Cintas Center on May 20.
