Christmas break. Students can drop off toys in the junior high during their regular school day. The toys are then donated to families in need. The toy drive is part of the National Junior Honor Society’s community service project.

KJH English teacher and National Junior Honor Society advisor, Linda Hare, thinks that the toy drive is a great way to give back to the community and help children in need

“The toys go to to local families, not just in Kings but in the surrounding area as well,” she said.
“In the past they’ve gone to foster children in Warren County.”

The junior high often gets plenty of donations and they’ve already gotten lots of toys.

“This year we have about 200, and we get around that number each year,” Hare said.TOY DRIVE2

Hare believes that the toy drive is a wonderful tradition of the junior high and that it’s great way to help the community and encourage the students to give back.

“It’s important to help those in need, especially when they’re in your community,” she said. “You never know when you could end up in a similar situation and you’d hope that someone would do the same for you”
