Ever have clothes laying around that you don’t wear anymore? Donate them to Kings Kloset, an organization run by those in the Kings community who are giving back to people in need.

Kings Kloset was started by Kings alumni, Kylie Thompson, in 2007. Every year since she graduated, a senior has volunteered to take over the organization along with many others in the community. This year it is Avery Porcelli along with her mother, Tracy.

“I have been with Kings Kloset for a while but decided to take it up my senior year because it is a really cool way to give back to our community and to help families in need,” said Avery.

Any gently worn clothes, household items, and school supplies are accepted. Donations are welcome and should be brought to the Kings Education Center. Kings Kloset is open every first Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. to those who are donating items and to the families who will be collecting them.

“There are about 10-15 families who come in each month and many are returning customers,” said Tracy.

Kings Kloset has also had some remodeling done within the last year. They’ve bought new clothing racks and have sorted the clothing according to girls/women, boys/men, and children for easy browsing.

“It’s a very rewarding thing to do and I hope that many other seniors throughout the kings community take over and really just keep this amazing thing going for many generations,” Avery said.
