The Lady Knights tennis team is back for another year, and despite a current record of 3-5, the team is making a comeback with some big wins.
There were some tough losses against Loveland, Turpin, Mount Notre Dame, and Springboro, but there were also some big wins against Glen Este, Anderson, and Wilmington.
Although the biggest comeback of all was their impressive tournament win earlier this season. The team came in first place in the Wilmington Invite on August 27.
¨Winning the Wilmington Invite was very exciting. It was a great confidence boost for the team as well,¨ said Varsity Coach Sarah Hennessey.
The expectations are high this year for these girls. Being one of the most athletic group of players our tennis program has had, we are expecting broken records all around.
¨I expect that we will finish with a winning record … I think we will be 4th in the ECC, said Hennessey.
Not all of these expectations are coming from the coach, the players are setting high goals for themselves as well.
¨My expectations for myself would be to win 90% of my games and be able to compete in multiple tournaments,¨ said Varsity player, Lindsey Kaesemeyer.
Winning isn’t the only thing that matters to these players. Their bond goes beyond just what happens on the court,
¨Since it’s my senior year I just really want to enjoy the last year with my team,¨ said Kaesemeyer.
