Frozen in Time
As the end of the school year approaches, King’s High School students are looking forward to many end-of-year activities, prom being one of them.
This year’s prom will be held Saturday, May 2 at The Great Wolf Lodge. Doors open at 5 p.m. for check-in and appetizers. From 6 to 7 p.m., dinner is served, followed by the dance, which ends at 10:30.
Great Wolf Lodge offers three different meals to students attending prom: steak, chicken fettuccini, or pasta.
The theme of prom this year is Frozen in Time. This theme is based off of the Disney movie Frozen and will include a wintry like environment.
At prom, a senior slideshow is shown and senior superlatives are announced. Prom King and Prom Queen are also chosen. Then it’s a live jazz band followed by a DJ.
A lot of work has to be put into prom. Melanie Contratto, teacher, is in charge of prom. A prom committee was formed to help. Prom committee is mostly juniors, but this year, it is seniors and sophomores. Delaney Souder, vice president of student council, said that it is very detailed.
“We make sure every detail is well thought out when planning prom to meet everyone’s expectations,” Souder said.
Prom committee and Contratto select a theme, create logos, and assemble little details to coordinate with the theme. They work on prom for two months and do something every day if possible. Souder said they meet a lot.
“We have meetings in the morning and throughout the week nights with different companies to make it fabulous!” Souder said.
This year’s after prom is at Lazer Kraze. Tickets are $20. The theme is neon lights. There is laser tag, trampolines, and an arcade.
