On Saturday Dec. 6 the Kings Baseball program hosted their 8th annual Breakfast with Santa. The event included food, crafts, music, baked goods and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

This event helps the baseball team to get involved in their community as well as promote their season – for which physical conditioning is already underway. The profits go toward the team’s maintenance concerns and equipment for the year. All baseball players are expected to attend the event, and they look forward to it every year.

“It is to raise money for the team and to bring the community together for the holidays. It’s important for us to show that we enjoy giving back to the community,” said Bryan Firsch, senior baseball player.

The baseball team decided that instead of selling items for their fundraiser they would take a less traditional route with a more interactive, festive event available to the entire community.

“We choose to do this fundraiser over selling items because there are so many other teams and organizations that sell fundraiser cards, cookies, and other items throughout the year,” said head coach Kevin McClung.

Typically between 400-500 people attend each year. Saturday’s event, however, drew their biggest crowd with 547 attendants. The team raised between $2000 and $2500 for the team.

Breakfast with Santa is a much-anticipated event for families and team members.

“We look forward to it every year because it’s a fun event and being able to see all the kids get excited for Santa makes it special,” said Firsch.
