UPDATE: 2Knight2Knight will be caroling around town on Friday, Dec. 18, stopping at homes and businesses to spread Christmas cheer.

“Our eight lovely singers will stop at your loved ones home and serenade them with 3 or 4 special Christmas carols….including our arrangement of O Holy Night from the competition,” said Scott Hayward.

KHS A cappella group 2Knight2Knight has just achieved national acclaim, Amanda Bledsoewith an appearance on a holiday CD that will be distributed nationwide.

Established in 2011 and co-directed by Kings choir director Scott Hayward and his wife, Katie, the eight ladies of 2k2k members have been polishing their act for years. They travel around the tri-state performing at places such as the Kettering National A Cappella Festival, Procter & Gamble, Macy’s, the Dayton Veterans Hospital and Kings High School events. Members have practice twice a week for a total of 6 hours.

Recently, 2k2k has been chosen by Q102 to compete in their Christmas choir competition. They submitted “O Holy Night” along with other various holiday songs sent in by other choirs chosen to compete.

Listeners were able to go online and vote for their favorite Tristate area choir, and 2k2k made it to the semi-finals. Their rendition of “O Holy Night” will be broadcast Christmas Eve and morning.

2k2k is also featured in The Best of High School A cappellas new CD coming out in January. After submitting a video performance, 2k2k, along with 17 other groups were picked to have their performances recorded for this CD.

Junior Morgan Reece has been apart of 2K2K for 3 years now and loves it. “My favorite park about A cappella is the friendships i’ve made and new things i learn every rehearsal”she adds. “Having that connection while signing is very special”

When Scott and Kaity Howard founded 2k2k they wanted to give students an experience similar to Morgan’s. “ A cappella should be a fun outlet” Scott adds” It gives me and the kids an opportunity to interact outside the classroom.”

To Scott Hayward , the best part about 2k2k is their music.

“Its nice being able to work with contemporary music” he said. “ The girls enjoy being able to work with music they hear on the radio.”

Currently, Morgan’s favorite song to perform is Oceans.

“We get to sing about our faith,” she said. “No matter what greater thing you believe in, signing is a connection that truly brings us together.”
