And he is only a junior.

As of this publication, six Division 1 NCAA schools — all top names on the academic and athletic scene — have come calling, asking Sichterman to attend their school: Miami of Ohio, University of Cincinnati, Toledo, Yale, Pittsburgh University, and most recently, Wake Forest.

Matt himself was surprised at these offers. Especially this early. “I expected Miami… but that’s it.”

Matt has been working hard for the opportunity to play college ball since the eighth grade. During his freshman year, Matt, his brother Dan, and Tyler Knecht, were pulled up to play varsity/JV football. And all three of them have been starting on varsity since their sophomore year.

When asked what his secret was Matt merely said that “hard work pays off” and “If you can dream it, you can do it”

At 6’5” 265 lbs, “Big Matt definitely fits his nickname. He said he has been told by multiple college coaches that he’s the “most athletic offensive lineman they’ve seen in awhile.”

Kings Offensive Line Coach Junior Ili agreed.

“Matt has always been one of the most hardworking kids on the team,” Ili said. “He always sets a great example for the young guys and I’m proud of the man he’s becoming.”

Aside from the six schools that have already offered, Matt has been in contact by coaches and recruiters from Indiana University, Ohio State, Ohio University, Harvard, and Central Michigan. Right now, his top two schools are UC and Toledo, but it’s so early in his recruiting process that all that could, and probably will change before he makes his decision. Signing day for the current seniors is coming up in February and Matt expects offers to come in for Tyler and Dan after that.

For the past three years Kings senior classes have each sent one person to play Division I NCAA football. From the Class of 2014, it was Matt Sannella to West Point. From the class of 2015 it was Tommy Bruns to the Air Force Academy. And from our current seniors it’s Jared Dorsa who will attend Ohio University, As a junior, Sichterman is one of the earliest in-demand recruits Kings has ever seen.
