With the season winding down in ECC basketball play, the Knights varsity men’s and women’s teams looked to get some key wins.

The men started off their week with a 48-36 win against Edgewood on their home court on Tuesday, January 15. Senior Briton Longwell scored 11 points.

The bigger story was their game against ECC rivals, the Milford Eagles. Even with a good game from PJ Marchal (7 points and 6 rebounds) the Knights couldn’t pull out the win, and had a tough 48-39 loss.

This puts the Knights and the Eagles tied for 5th in the ECC standings.

The Knights look to rebound after this loss having 2 ECC games against Loveland and Withrow next week, They finish off the week against their rival, Little Miami Panthers, on Saturday.

`The Women’s basketball team improved to 8-7 on the season last week, notching three big ECC wins against Milford, Loveland, and Withrow.

On Monday, the Lady Knights beat Milford on the road in a back-and-forth contest 44-40. Senior forward Carolyn Bruns lead the team in scoring with 15 points, including a perfect 5 of 5 from the floor.

Wednesday, the Lady Knights were back on the road as they traveled to play rival Loveland. The Lady Tigers came in as favorites as they were 10-3 on the season. The Lady Knights upset Loveland 46-42. The team had balanced scoring across the board, with seniors Lexie Sparks and Jordyn Rhodes leading the Lady Knights with 11 points each.

On Saturday, the Lady Knights returned home for an ECC matchup with the Withrow Lady Tigers. Kings lead the for the entire game and never looked back, winning the game handily 57-34. Carolyn Bruns was the game’s leading scorer with 16 points.

The Lady Knights have two away games next week, one against crosstown rival Little Miami on Monday, before traveling to Walnut Hills to face the top team in the ECC.
